Advertising success..?

Why is it that whenever I see a Stuart Weitzman ad, I always get drawn to the outfit on the model, instead of what they actually sell - designer shoes and handbags? =/Isn't that a mega-hot dress?? Sigh.. And it's not the first time.. The first time I picked up one of their catalogues, I was looking all over the place to see whether they would mention where their outfits are from.. And no, I didn't find out.. Grr..

What are your thoughts?

  3. You know, the problem with these ads is that the art directors seem to have lost their direction. It's become about the model or the outfit or the whole picture instead of the object that they want to sell. Alot of them think about selling a look not just the actual product. some schools of thought this is what its all about but others (me for one) think that they have lost the message ... look at you for example ... you end up paying more attention to the outfit and the model's legs instead of the shoe ... err... need I say more eh ;-)

  6. Farhan, thing is, ads are not meant to be for people in the fashion industry; they're meant for normal people, the consumer! =)

  7. ya, tula.. they shud focus on the "product" theyre selling rather than the whole figure of the model-(what the hell am i talking about) LOL
even if i look at that ad, what attracts my eyes r the "dress" & not the "shoes"-(which is what they r selling kan)
