Super GT Queen East Meets West - Day 2 brings the talents out!

4 June 2012

An early day for the girls: After having breakfast at Wishbone around 8am, they went straight to Suria Sabah for the Bandwidth/Borneo Tuners Volkswagen photography competition.
Photo courtesy of TJ&Co - Victor and Cookies.
Also from TJ&Co, the official photographers for Super GT Queen 2012!
Yep, a LOT of photographers joined the competition that day, including some whom I know! =D
Last pose on stage before going backstage to get ready for the talent show.
The winners were announced just before the talent show, and *drum roll*
In first place with his own spread in the June issues of Bandwidth and Borneo Tuners, MR PETER CHIN!! Congrats! =D
There were also 3 runners up, Perry Yapp, Soon Ruen and Yasha, who will get special mention and their photos shown in the magazines too! I cant wait to grab my copies of Bandwidth and Borneo Tuners to see the winning photos!!
Group photo: Ana Jonessy of Bandwisth, Tina Fong, Borneo Tuners rep, Perry Yapp, Yasha, Soon Ruen, Peter Chin and Mandy Nandu.
Then it was time for me to slip backstage to interview the girls while they were getting ready to show off their talents. I did forget to mention earlier in my Bella Italia segment that out of all the introductions made, I thought Charissa, Julie and Yumi did the best job. They spoke with confidence, had planned what they were going to say before getting to the mic (at least, that's how it looked), and spoke fluently. Two of the girls introduced themselves in Mandarin, and as the crowd was a mixed one, I personally felt that speaking a language not everyone could understand would lose them supporters. I did love the fact that a few of the girls, including Julie and Yumi, started of their intro with a little Japanese. As the winner will be going to Japan, I thought this was a great way to step up and impress the judges and the audience.

Anyway, before I go on, here's a little glimpse of what the girls were vying for in the talent competition:
Trophies and sash.
I love the design, dont you? So elegant, and so Borneo.. =)
So as I already mentioned what performances the girls did in my previous post HERE, I wont repeat the photos, but I will show you videos instead! Now, please bear in mind I'm no videographer, and I havent the slightest idea how to edit videos either, so these are on a shoot-and-post basis, but I wanted to share the amazing performances the girls gave, so please, enjoy! =)
Cookies, Rice and Roselyn
Julie, singing the Japanese part of her song.
Yumi, and her Japanese-Chinese dance.. Her "Single Ladies" was so sudden I didnt have time to record.. =)
Charissa, confident for the crowd.
Cath and Lily do bubbly K-Pop!
Victor is adorable when nervous.. =)
Heard someone comment that they feel like they're in Turkey when Erica came on..
Pauline, with Charissa on guitar.
Mico takes us back to Shanghai.

To finish off the show, all 12 finalists did a rendition of Selena Gomez's "Love You Like A Love Song" for the excited crowd.
Group effort! =)
Judged by 3 judges who are from the industry, the results were out quite fast. Who were the judges?
Ms. Lavin Seow
Ms. Henrietta Kual
Mr Ricky Richard William
Before I tell you, and if you havent read my previous post of course, who do you think won? Drop a comment n let me know what you think below! =)

2nd runner-up: Charissa!
I love this photo: 1st runner-up Yumi!
And a group photo, with East Meets West Best in Talent: Erica!
So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed the videos.. And trust me, after such a long day so far, it isnt over yet! Will continue with the end of day 2 tonight, and you'll wanna see this one! Beautiful cheongsam girls, coming up! ;p

While everyone else went for a short rest and to get ready, I joined Lavin and photographers TJ, Andy and another photog (omg I forgot his name O_O Please forgive me! ;p) for tea time at famous bread place (which also serves Halal dim sum!) Fook Yuen, where we had a bit too much to eat.. ;p
Lavin n I with way too much food! ;p

  4. I like the contestant "Cookie" because I think it's hard for girls to pull off the short hair look and still looks pretty and girly. Her eyes look big and gorgeous too(:

  5. You really make it seem so easy together with your
presentation but I to find this topic to be really one thing which
I feel I might by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and very huge for me.
I'm having a look forward on your subsequent post, I'll attempt to
    get the grasp of it!
