If You Love To Travel, Check Out These Apps

If you are anything like me, you love your apps. Especially if they help you make the most of your holidays. There are lot of great new travel apps on the market. But there are some specific ones that you just cannot do without if you are planning a trip aboard any time soon. Read on for some top picks.

Media apps
First of all long journeys can be boring, even if there is something exciting at the end of them to look forward. That's why it’s handy to always have an entertainment app at hand. You can get e- reading apps to catch up with that latest romance novel during a bus ride. Or how about a movie streaming app like ShowBox App Download - Free Movies App so that car journey isn't so boring when you're not driving?

If you are doing a city tour, why not download an audiobook through an app like audible that is set in the country for the city that you are in. It can help you get into the swing of things. Just remember to keep one earphone out, and your wits about you if you are in a strange place.

Google Maps
Of course, anyone from a seasoned traveler to an occasional holiday maker knows that map apps like the one from Google are essential. In many areas, you can get the time of public transport through these apps, as well as being able to pinpoint exactly where you are.

A useful feature that some have, that is particularly clever, is that you can get audio directions through your headphones. Then you can explore a new city at your ease, without worrying that you look too much like a lost tourist.

Taxi Apps
Another way to prevent highlighting yourself as a non local is by using taxi apps such as Uber. Then you can travel around your chosen location with ease and cut out the need for public transport altogether.

Google Translate
Another app that you can’t do without on your adventures is one that will translate what people are saying to you. You can try one such as I translate or Google Translate. It is so helpful, especially if you are traveling alone to be able to get the gist of a menu or what a hotel reception clerk is telling you.

Jet Lag Apps
Lastly if you are a fan of long-haul trips, then you probably know all about the perils of jet lag. Cause by crossing a time zone, jet lag is when your body stays on ‘the clock’ of the previous area that you are in. This mean you want to sleep in the middle of the day and wake up at night!

Luckily, there are now even apps to help you overcome your jet lag as quick as possible. Apps like Jet Lag Rooster help you to close the gap between the previous time zone and the one you are in now. They do this by coming up with a sleep plan to get you into the new time zones’ pattern. So even if you can't get rid of it completely, you can minimize jet lag and the impact that it has on your trip.

Luxury Traveler? Awesome Modes Of Travel To Try Before You Die

Travel isn’t for everyone. Those cramped seats and long waits can be horrendous. Then there is that ominous odor that just won’t quit. Traffic jams, flight cancellations, and terrible food are just a few of the things that put people off going places. But it doesn’t have to be like that. You could enjoy the journey as well as the destination. Have a look at some of these incredibly luxurious ways to travel:

Private Jet
OK, so flying doesn’t appeal to everybody. But if you had your own private jet to fly about in, you might change your mind! Luxury leather seats, lots of legroom, and proper cutlery for your chef-selected meal sounds like heaven. If you haven’t got the garage space at home for your own plane, you can always charter a private flight at your convenience from your local airport. Get where you need to go without all the long queues.

Luxury RV
There are lots of types of motorhome that can cater for large family groups, partygoers, and even fashionable celebrities. Many of them are incredibly luxurious inside. If you’ve got a long road trip, forget the convertible. It’s comfort and air conditioning you need. Your own kitchenette on the go, plus a shower to cool down sounds perfect for a long journey by road. And if you’re tired, just pull over, and enjoy a well-deserved rest in a king size bed.

If the journey’s not quite that long, you might fancy being driven. A chauffeur driven limousine is the perfect way to start a night out on the town. No taxis to hail, no worrying about having that extra tipple. And you can make an incredible entrance too! The door to door service is typical, but many people hire the car for an entire evening, making it easier to travel from venue to venue.

A luxury cruise liner offers you the very best of everything. A beautiful suite with your own butler and balcony could be just the start. You’ll have amazing entertainment acts to enjoy. And the dining couldn’t be better. Best of all, you can choose what you want to eat, where you want to eat, and what time you want it served. There are spas, jacuzzis, pools and gyms to enjoy too. Choose the Caribbean, Europe or even the Far East to hop on and off for some shopping.

Of course, you may want a more personal service and a lot more privacy while at sea. However, most people that hire a luxury yacht tend to stay moored at a luxury resort or secluded island. Enjoy bobbing about or, jump in for a swim. Choose a sunny venue, or just sail around to your New Hampshire mansion. The choice is yours.

Living the lifestyle of the rich and famous would be a dream come true for most of us. Of course, there may be a few financial hiccups along the way! But if you’re looking for that once in a lifetime experience, why not try one of these awesome modes of travel?

Going On Adventures with Casio EXILIM FR100

I've always wanted an action cam, but never got round to really checking them out. So when I was given the opportunity to review the new Casio Exilim FR100, I was over the moon! Excited to see what it can do, I started planning a bunch of adventures - only to find, life gets in the way lol. But that's a story for another post; this one, well I'm going to tell you everything I have experienced with this action + selfie cam so far.
Let's get the nitty gritty out of the way: The Casio EX-FR100 is an outdoors camera with a detachable LCD screen.
The screen can be folded over, or detached completely.
This makes it so much easier to take selfie shots and those hard-to-handle spots: you can know exactly what the shot is going to look like before you click the shutter, and you can place the lens in weird places just to get that amazing shot!
Selfie taken with FR100
Speaking of the shutter, there are two capture buttons: One on the lens and one on the screen - super convenient! To separate the two, just use the release button on the side of the LCD (I got a bit confused about this at first, so it's good to take note).
Tagal Tinopikon River.
The FR100 is waterproof, dust-proof, and drop-proof; basically everything an action camera needs to be. I was pretty sceptical about the waterproof part at first, because how does a camera with usb charging ports on the side not get waterlogged?? I still don't know, but it works, and supposedly can go up to 1.5m deep for 60 minutes. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to verify this yet though.
Before unboxing
The screen connects to the lens via bluetooth, and you can connect the camera to your phone via wifi (and the Casio app), which means you can upload on the go! Just download the Exilim app and you can even edit those photos before putting them online.
It's great for work - when I need to upload things asap!
Another thing I love about the Casio EX-FR100 is the sound quality - it's really good; it can pick up our voices clearly even when the camera is held quite far away, and even up in the sky! I took it with me when I went paragliding for the very first time...

The FR100 is also super lightweight at only 76g, and even my instructor was impressed as it was so much easier to hold up in the air for about half an hour haha. The 16mm wide angle lens was perfect for capturing the whole experience, completely filmed above! My only regret is that I have no photos while I was gliding =/

Although the paragliding vlog came out amazing, for some reason my Lancome vlog didn't turn out as clear as I wanted. Gotta figure out what went wrong before my next one, but I'm guessing it's a lighting problem:

The fact that it comes with so many optional accessories is the cherry on top. You can a special monopod to attach the screen a little lower,

Casio Exilim FR100 wish list:
1. Camera case/pouch (Or if anyone knows of a better one)
2. Ring light
3. Underwater case - for diving trips!

Overall, I'm very happy with the FR100, and can't wait to take it on more adventures! Since starting my new job I haven't had nearly as much selfie time, but maybe that will change soon =P The FR100 is great for travelling, as it's lightweight, versatile, and basically a 2-in-1. The only problem I've had with it so far is the battery life, as it seems to drain fast when taking videos. Also, having to charge both lens and screen separately can be a bit of a hassle, but expected since they are detachable. A small tip is to power off from the lens, as that will automatically turn off the screen as well.

4 Effective Ways to Be More Savvy When You Shop

If you are like me, then you will love to shop. I enjoy trying on new clothes and seeing how they look on me. It is nice to be able to get new things from time to time. Some people can find that shopping is a bit of a crutch for them. It can be a way to relax, or they may just love spending money. You do need to be careful about how much you spend, though. So if you think that you fit into the shopaholic category, then here are some tips for you. It is good to shop; just make sure that it doesn’t take over your life.

One of the most important things to do when shopping for anything is to set a budget. If you have some spare cash then great. You can spend it as you please. You just need to know the exact amount that you can spend. If you don’t set a budget, it could lead to getting into debt. Knowing what you have spare will also allow you to save and put some money aside. Then you can save for larger or more expensive purchases in the future.

Shop Online
One way to kerb your spending is to shop online. I find that it is much easier not to overspend when you are browsing online. You can take your time and look for the things that you really want. You are much less likely to impulse buy when you shop online, as you have to enter shipping and credit card information. I find shopping online quite enjoyable too. It makes things quicker and easier and saves your poor feet from stopping around all of those shops. You can get pretty much anything that you want online too. From groceries to shoes to birthday cards and gifts. You can even buy verragio rings online, as well as other jewellery and engagement rings. Big purchases like that are important to make when you aren’t going to impulse buy and regret your decision.

Needs vs. Wants
When you think about what you want to get from a store, think about if you really need it. Quite often these things are just things that we want, rather than need. You might have a pair of sneakers that are completely worn out and have holes in them. So yes, you would need a new pair. You might just want a new pair even if you had some that were in perfectly good condition. So asking yourself if it is a need or a want will help unnecessary spending.

Sort Out Your Home
If you forget what is in your closet or what you already have at home, it is a good idea to sort it out. If you rearrange things at home, you will find things that you forgot that you had. You could start to reuse them, or even sell them on. The same goes for your wardrobe and clothing. If things haven’t been worn for a while, then it is safe to say that you could make some money from them instead.

Happy Shopping! xx

Furball Heaven - KK's First Pet Cafe

If you have a dog, you'd have probably realised by now that there aren't that many places you can take your dogs out in public, especially if your dogs aren't toy size, like mine.

Meet Ivory & Caesar
Love this photo with Omnom
Why hello there, Furball Heaven! I was so excited when I heard this dog cafe was opening - finally, my doggies will get to socialise! I have 6 dogs (Magic, Ivory, Omnom, Bouncy, Chocolate & Little - who is not little in the slightest now), so taking them all out at once is impossible, but at least they will get to take turns to meet the outside world properly!
Doggie Cupcakes
Human Cake =P
Located in Lido Plaza, Kota Kinabalu, it sells cake for both humans and dogs, as well as other dishes and drinks. All dogs are welcome, as long as they are up to date on their vaccinations, and of course, tick free.
Clockwise from left: Logan, Butter, Peanut, Xiao Ai
If you don't have any pets, you're also welcome to drop by to enjoy the food and in-house pets: The owners of Furball Heaven have 5 dogs themselves: a Husky called Logan, a Shihtzu called Xiao Ai, a toy poodle called Peanut, a Golden Retriever called Butter, and latest addition, the tiniest Daschund-Border Collie mix called Jelly. They're so adorable! All of them are really friendly and love to play!

Definitely recommended; Ivory loved it, and even usually anti-social Omnom seemed content. Take your pets there, and maybe our dogs can all be friends =P

Your Next Vacation Should be One You Make the Most Of

Vacations are there to give you a taste of a different world. So, you need to make sure you make the most of whatever opportunities you get to go away. Many people scarcely get the chance to enjoy vacation time, or to see the world. So, you need to ensure that you follow the suggestions below. They will help you make the most of any vacation you might choose to take this year.
Go on an Adventure
When people talk about travel and vacations, they mean getting away from it all every now and again. And that is what it should really be all about. It’s about having an adventure and enjoying something different very far from home. If you want to have an awesome adventure trip, you’ll need to know what is involved in that. And this means choosing the right place to go and packing the right kind of things with you. Consider an outdoor adventure in the natural world so you can enjoy a holiday with a difference.

Check Out the Big Cities
Why limit your vacationing to the outdoors and the wilderness? Sure, this is an excellent way of enjoying nature, but you also need to sample the big cities too. There is so much you can take from a city break these days, so you need to make the most of it. Check out somewhere awesome like San Diego where you can easily spend a week. San Diego charter bus companies provide the perfect option for anyone wanting to see the city in all its glory.
Visit Wonders
If you have the opportunity, you really should make the time to visit some of the great Wonders of the World. These are sites that you may only get the opportunity to visit once or twice in your life ever. Some people never get this chance, so make sure you don't squander yours. You can visit some of the ancient wonders like The Great Wall of China and Machu Picchu. Or, you could even consider checking out some of the natural wonders we have on the Earth. Breath-taking sights like The Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon also warrant a visit.
Inspire Yourself
The world is full of excitement, awe, and adventure. There are a lot of incredible things on our planet, and you should make the most of them. You want to inspire yourself and allow yourself to be overwhelmed sometimes. And that's something you can do on your next vacation. Make sure you visit incredible areas and World Heritage sites. Document your adventure and your journey by way of a travel documentary. You will see so many amazing things that it may inspire you to do things differently in your life.

How inspiring and amazing the world can be at times. There are so many wonderful sights to take in and experience. And going traveling is the perfect way of enriching the life you lead. It’s so important that you make the most of your time away because you may not get the chance again.

Visiting America? Here Are Some Tips!

Visiting America for the first time is bound to give you butterflies and make you daydream about all of the wonderful experiences you have to come. It’ll likely be very different to anywhere you’ve visited before. America likes to be louder. It likes to be bigger. It likes to be better and more obscene than anywhere you can imagine. This introduction to America will clue you up on what to expect and give you some valuable tips:

You Don’t Have To See All The Cliches - But See Some Of Them
There are plenty of cliches that you’re ‘supposed’ to see in America. You don’t have to see all of these if you don’t want to, so don’t feel pressured just because some people say that you ‘have to’. You really don’t, unless you want to! Seeing all of the sights can get expensive. There are things like The Grand Canyon, the statue of Liberty, National Parks, and so much more. You should feel free to travel off the beaten path if you like. Maybe pick one or two things that you actually want to see and stick to them.

Be Prepared For Honesty
In America, they don’t really beat around the bush. They’ll be honest with you. They might even seem so much louder and far more forward than you’re used to. Get used to it! Most people will be like this. Some are ridiculously friendly, and some won’t seem that friendly at all. It depends on where you are, so do your research and don’t be perturbed.

Leave Room For All The Food You’ll Eat
The portions in America are usually massive, so make sure you leave room. They have some peculiar concoctions too, and often like to mix sweet with savoury. Broaden your horizons and try some new things to make the most of your trip.

Take Your Airport Visits Seriously
Visiting the airports in America should be taken very seriously. Everybody knows the attempts that have been made on America in recent years, so it isn’t unusual to see guards walking around with guns. Make sure you read up on the airports, follow their rules, and stay on your best behaviour while you’re there. Make sure you have all of your documents in one easy to reach place too, including the ESTA from

Get A High Level Of Insurance Cover
Having a high level of insurance cover is really important in the US. Nothing will come for free, even a minor injury or problem. Make sure you don’t have to worry about forking out a fortune.

Pack As Light As Possible
You’re going to want to bring back many souvenirs. Not only that, the clothes and things are far cheaper over here. You’ll want a whole new wardrobe!

Be Mindful Of Sensitive Subjects
Certain subjects in America are far more sensitive than anywhere else. For example, religion. Be aware of these subjects and avoid bringing them up so you can avoid conflict.

Have a great trip!

#hitzEscape: My Malaysia

August is Merdeka month, aka Independence Day for us Malaysians! To celebrate, this month we're turning the #hitzEscape spotlight on our very own country:

So why do tourists love to visit us? It could be because:
  • We're really affordable! It's true, don't believe me? Check out what TripAdvisor said.
  •  Everywhere is so accessible! Except getting from East to West Malaysia of course; but once you're in a city, it's so easy to get to where you wanna go to next.
  • The food is amazing! We have so many different varieties - there's always something for everyone.
  • We have so many different cultures - there are various native tribes all throughout Malaysia. In Sabah alone there are over 42!
  • Malaysia is also home to 14500 species of flowering plants and trees, 200 species of mammals, 600 species of birds, 140 species of snakes, and 60 species of lizards.
  • Malaysians are super friendly!
We also have everything you could possibly need: Mountain high to Ocean deep; Concrete jungles to the oldest rainforest in the world. Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Malaysia, but we also have hills which are great for hiking peppered all over the country. Diving? From Sipadan to Redang, then options are endless.

Oh, and did you know that the word "Ringgit" means "jagged" in Malay, and it actually referred to the separated edges of Spanish silver dollars? Neither did I!

What do you love about Malaysia? Drop me a comment!

Everything You Need To Make An Awesome Adventure Trip

An adventure holiday is all about thrills and spills. Getting wet, getting tired and getting out in the middle of nowhere. It can be one of the most exhilarating, exhausting experiences you can have. Which means that it also usually requires a good deal of preparation. It’s not the kind of holiday to have on a whim. Instead, you should take a look at the points below to make sure you got everything you need.

The right place
First, you need to have an idea of where you’re going. Thankfully, there are a lot of really great adventure holiday spots in the US alone. The Grand Canyon and Monument Valley offer some of the most breathtaking sights you can get; that elevation taking your view far across the landscape. Yellowstone doesn’t only have fantastic geysers. It also gives the opportunity to safely see wolves in their natural environment, too. It’s well worth taking the time to be picky about your destination rather than just heading to your nearest white water rafting setup.

The right stuff
You need to make sure you’re preparing more than just how to get there and where to go, too. For one, always prepare insurance. Adventure holidays are never without their risks. A first aid kit should always be with you, too. Things you should leave behind instead include expensive jewelry that’s easily lost or too much cash. Pack mostly for necessity.

Camping gear
If you really want to get the most out of an adventure holiday, you want to stay for more than one night. You want to get as much from the natural landscape as possible. This means that the whole camping experience is almost mandatory. Whether it’s tents around a campfire or a more comfortable stay in an RV. This means preparing your camping gear. Learning what the weather will be like beforehand and any repellents you might need.

Some walking shoes
We could have included it in the points above, but we feel like being prepared for long, hard walks deserves its own emphasis. Particularly because of some of the amazing walking trails you’re able to see are in the US. We’ve already talked about the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. However, if it’s a hike you want, you really need to take a look at the Hayduke Trail. Red rocks, sand and solitude make it one of the most simultaneously zen and exhausting walks you can find.

Get fit
Oh yes, prepare to get exhausted! Adventure holidays will leave you sore and tired. That’s all part of the fun. But it’s a lot less fun if you’re not prepared for it. Particularly if you’re forced to cut a hike early because you can’t make the entire trail. So don’t go on an adventure holiday without the right physical preparation. Spend some time training for it.

Indeed, it can be a lot of preparation. But it’s worth it. Just a bit of planning, a bit of work and you can enjoy the kind of experiences that far too many miss.

See you in the wild,
Calista xx
